Newt at his best

I’m not a big Newt Gingrich fan, but when he’s right, he’s right, and when he’s on his game, there’s nobody better. In last night’s debate, his response to Juan Williams’ race-baiting, “don’t you realize your wife doesn’t like to be beaten” question was simply masterful. He was unapologetic, forceful, articulate, and stood by his principles — qualities that are unfortunately rare among the GOP leadership. It’s the first time a presidential candidate in a debate ever got a standing ovation, and he deserved it.

I watched the clip and while I too, am not a great fan of Newt Gingrich, it struck me while watching it that this man might be the only Republican candidate that stands any real chance of kicking Obama out of the White House in november. That’s somewhat frightening but I do think it would be better than having that Marxist SOB in office for 4 more years, so I would definitely take it if it happens. I particularly liked one remark he made that wasn’t in the clip. He said that Andrew Jackson had the right idea about what to do with America’s enemies; kill them. Hooray for disproportionate
response!

Newt had several good lines in that debate. Regarding 99 weeks of unemployment compensation, he said, “Ninety-nine weeks is an associate degree.”

My word, so it is! I can’t say too much about this except that I was forced to exist on unemployment benefits for almost that long before my disability benfits were finally granted. My gripe there is the process itself. I AM truly disabled. The diabetes is
severe, so is the high blood pressure, and so is the neuropathy
in both legs, yet it took almost two years to get MY money that I had paid for my whole adult working life from them, and it came down to a scheduled hearing where I would have to present my whole medical history and all of the evidence I had ALREADY PROVIDED to get what I consider that I deserved to begin with
before they FINALLY decided to just give it to me. The system is seriously flawed as all government agencies and procedures are, and these are the things that need to be fixed. The free enterprize system that it is based on still works fairly well if they would just leave it the hell alone. This is why if there HAS to be a government, I would prefer it to be Republican simply because they don’t SEEM to have as much of a tendency to TINKER with the damn thing as the Democrats do. :=)

Yeah, Newt sure knows how to stick it to liberals. Too bad he doesn’t know what “small government” means. The rest of the field are incompetent debaters.
