Drew Carey explains libertarians
Posted by Richard on December 3, 2008
On the Late Late Show, Drew Carey informed Craig Ferguson that he's a libertarian. Then he had to explain that to Craig:
Libertarians are, like, conservatives who still get high.
Hmm, I guess I've been doing it wrong for a number of years now.
Maybe I should correct that. Anyone want to help? 🙂

RG, Drew Carey did libertarians a disservice by his fippant definition of what a libertarian is. Libertarians are generally social liberals and fiscal conservatives. I don’t use drugs or smoke pot, or seek prostitiutes but I think drugs and prostitution should be decriminalized. You and I are libertarians but you are a neolibertarian that feels fighting military wars against communism and radical Islam is justified. I am a paleolibertarian that believes in a non-interventionist and anti-war foreign policy, using the military solely to prptect American shores. Libertarians come in all stripes and colors but we are united in defending our Constitutional civil rights, liberties and responsiblities.

Aw, c’mon, Mo, lighten up — he’s a comedian! Besides, he did add a bit more informative description. Not as good as yours, but in that situation, he only had a few seconds.
Carey actually is a pretty articulate and active promoter of libertarianism — much more vocal and active than other celebrity libertarians. And he’s the guy behind Reason.tv.
