Pelosi celebrates Flag Day
Posted by Richard on June 14, 2007
The buildup of 30,000 additional combat troops in Iraq known as the "surge" will be complete tomorrow, and the military said last week that "it could take up to two months for the newly arrived reinforcements to be fully effective." There are certainly signs of improvement, but it would be premature to declare the surge a success.
For the Democrats, however, it's never too early to declare it a failure, and that's just what Senator Reid and Representative Pelosi did yesterday. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that this is how Nancy Pelosi celebrated Flag Day today:

Is this real or not? If it is not, should this image exist for the historian and the anthropologist to look at this, much further in the future out of the context of this blog.

Democrats are premature in calling the surge a failure but so is the Bush Administration in calling it a success! (Arming Sunni tribes as militias is not a good idea , in my opinion. Armed militias weaken a nation’s standing army. All militias should be disarmed, especially Mugtada al-Sadr’s ‘Mahdi Army”) In my opinion, there is no US military solution to the Iraq civil war. We need to pull out.

I am sure a winner like mothanskin would love to disarm the unorganized militia in the United States, too. Probably a real big fan of strong central governments, even after witnessing how they managed to kill in excess of 160 million of their own citizens in the 20th century – or perhaps he’s just a typical leftist who hasn’t picked up a history book since his excellent instruction in that topic during his formative years in the public indoctrination system that passes for “school” these days.

Check the ragged edges of the white flag. Either this is a crummy crop job or Pelosi is waving an old dish towel.

Hey, “Libracontrarian”, I am not against armed militias in support of the standing Army, if a country is being invaded or occupied! As I see history, armed militas inevitabably oppose the central government and the militia leaders become “war lords”. That’s what is wrong in Afghanistan today! In our own American revolution the armed militias supported the American “Continental Army” (didn’t you see the Mel Gibson’s movie “The Patriot”?) No nation can survive for long without a strong central government in my opinion, and I am a “leftist” leaning Liberal!

Carola Von Hoffmannstahl Solomon,
The more I look at it, I think the dish towel is held by a meat fork.

Hey, that’s not just an “old dish towel” — that’s an ”’Armani”’ dish towel. From the “distressed chic” collection. You bourgeois Americans just don’t appreciate fine French surrender flags when you see them.
